I’m not going to do a detailed analysis this week had some problems with my NCAA spreadsheet so was busy working on fixing that didn’t get to watch much extra games. So here are some quick thoughts on what happened in the NFL. Oakland took charge of the Chargers and the AFC west with a big win in San Diego on Thursday night. Then a better situation for the Raiders couldn’t have happened when the Bronco’s went into Kansas only completed 2 passes yes 2 passes and beat the Chiefs. It now looks as if Matt Cassel may miss the rest of his 2011 season mark it down as another who are now missing 4 of their top 10 players.

Indianapolis continued their suck for Luck campaign when they lost to fellow crappy team the Jacksonville Jaguars. If their was a game I thought the Colts may win it was this one but the continue to show that they are nothing without Manning which is something everyone basically knew anyways. Houston destroyed the Buccaneers at a steep cost losing their starting quarterback who like Matt Cassel appears to potential have his season over, difference is Shaub’s Texans are winning the division and look like one of the top 3 teams in the AFC. Tampa Bay has looked like a very up and down team this season something I really didn’t expect with the way they played a season ago. The Titans beat down on Cam Newton’s Panthers I was pretty shocked by this one but I guess shouldn’t have been the Panthers are still a bad team just have Newton around will keep them in some games.

Speaking of the Buc’s want to see an even more up and down team in the nfl? Take a look in Baltimore where one week they play like on of the top 3 teams in the NFL the next they lose to a bottom feeder… This has happened 3 times now this season. They beat Pittsburgh week 1 then got beat up by Tennessee, beat Houston then got upset by the Jaguars then completed the sweep against the Steelers and now lost to the Seahawks. This is a team I just can’t count on. On the flip side in the Steelers and Bengals game we might have seen 2 of the playoff teams going head to head. This Cincy team looks to be the real deal they hung in and fought the Steelers hard Pittsburgh however prevailed and continues to be the second most consistent team in the AFC behind the Texans. Lastly in the AFC North we got the Browns well they are the Browns what more is needed to be said? Colt McCoy however did have a solid game going 20/27 and should have been good enough for the win but a messed up snap in what would have been the game winning field goal cost the Browns the game, like the old saying goes bad teams find ways to lose and good teams find ways to win.

Wow now which Miami Dolphins team is for real? I know they have only played the Chiefs and Redskins the past two weeks but they seriously look like a team that could go on a mini roll and finish with maybe 5 wins? Three weeks ago they looked like they were going to give the Colts a fight for Andrew Luck. Buffalo’s season magic appears to have worn off I still think they are an improving team but just missing to many pieces to be as good as what we saw at the beginning of the year. Dallas on the other hand might have found something with their running game behind DeMarco Murray. I don’t want to jump on the Cowboys train to quickly because Tony Romo has made it a habit of throwing everyone off right as we think its safe but Murray has been a stable back something Dallas has needed for a while. In my mind the 3rd best game of the week we saw or heard vulgar language coming out of one head coach toward a fan, his team get swept by division rival and now I question if they will make the playoffs. With at least 2 teams coming out of the north I don’t think its a lock like most would have thought coming into the year when Rex was making guarantee’s to anyone who would listen. On the other side you saw a pair of hall of famers one a coach the other signal caller go about their business like it was any other week and proved that nothing in fact was really wrong with the Patriots they just are a good but not completely elite team like most are accustomed to seeing.

Over in the NFC we saw some pretty good matchups the Saints and Falcons went into overtime where the Falcons coach made in my mind a terrible call not even with hindsight I mean really going for it on your 30 yard line in overtime I don’t care if you have Drew Bree, Joe Montana, Payton Manning or Tom Brady on the opposing team you punt the ball and make them drive the field because if you fail to get that half a yard as they did they don’t have to move the ball at all and have a good chance of beating you.

The NFC north may just be like its AFC counter part and see 2 or potentially even 3 playoff teams from its division. The Packers are now a shoe in for the playoffs after destroying the Vikings a game I thought would be closer than its 45-7 outcome. Chicago beat up Detroit both on the score board and well they beat up on each other literally what a physical game this one was. Detroit is flirting very closely with that dirty/aggressive line but it is the character of their head coach.

The last two games left one was somewhat of an upset bigger in the eyes of Vegas than I think as Arizona beat the Eagles. The other game was in my opinion the best game of the week as the 49ers went head to head with the Giants. Both teams went back and forth each having a good chance of winning the game but in the end it was the now 8-1 49ers. Let me know what you think of this new format if people like this better I can do it this way more often. Check back later to see how these games effect the power ratings heading into week 11.
