In the NFL typically you see contracts handed out around this time to a few different types of people, one of those are the players who are holding out in hopes of bigger contracts… Chris Johnson. Second is of course free agents lastly the other is franchise players much like the Chad Greenway deal which was signed on Monday. But at this point you don’t often see contract extensions to players who are under contract and going about the business the right way, this isn’t to say it isn’t deserved or anything along those lines but with just a few days before the regular season typically teams have other things on their agendas so when in a matter of 2 days, 2 players who are I’d say inside the top 3 at each position are signed to record setting deals its pretty neat. Both are model players on and off the field and these new contracts reward them for being such.

It looks as if the Vikings are looking to really lock up their talent. First it was Chad Greenway the franchise player from 2011. And now Adrian Peterson the franchise player. 7 years $100 million with $36 million guaranteed. The deal pending Peterson finishes out the deal which is quite unlikely will pretty much finish up all days, days as a professional bringing him to the age of 33 but he will make enough dough in that span 14.3 mil per year to retire a happy camper. Although Peterson has been pretty rock solid over the years I have a hard time with handing running backs this kind of money.

Well the Steelers wont have to worry about losing their defensive player of the year Troy Polamalu, as he signed a 3 year 36 million dollar extension unlike the Peterson deal I love this deal  Troy is 30 years old and it is a record-setting deal for safety’s so I can see where some might be hesitant, but its hard to argue with the deal when Troy is one of the most dynamite defensive playmakers in the NFL. Troy and his Steelers go head to head with division rival Ravens this Sunday at 1pm eastern time you can check out my predictions for week 1 by clicking here
